Passion

I was having a conversation with a friend recently about substance, titles and passion. It actually started as we watched our daughters dancing. We talked about how most people can tell when someone has passion about what they do and when someone doesn’t. For example, someone that has passion may not have all the technique down but because of their passion it is a joy to partake in what they have to offer. And because of their passion they are willing to make the sacrifices necessary to be seasoned and become perfected in what they do. Verses someone that may have technique, skill and look good but absolutely no passion. I called it title with no substance. They look the part and even play the part but when it comes down to it they have little to offer.

This caused me to think deeper about what I have passion for and how willing I am to be seasoned. Life has thrown me many curves, but each curve has been an opportunity to be seasoned to feed passion. I am passionate about creating an atmosphere for people to feel free to be who God created them to be. He has created each one of us uniquely and desires for us to fulfill our purpose for which we have been created. I have no doubt that each one of us has a passion for something that God has placed within us. And out of that passion comes a stage for others to witness and become effected in one way or another. I love seeing people walk in their God given roles with confidence and poise. Helping someone get to that point, that is a passion of mine. My children rank very high on this list, but are among the many I hope to effect.

My friend shared this story about a women who was in her eighties when she recently passed away, but lived a life of passion for dance. When she was in her late teens to early twenties she started to become blind. She was made to stay in bed for one year. The whole time she lay in bed she would exercise her legs and go over dance steps in her mind. Not only did she become a well known ballerina where she lived, but a teacher of the art as well. She was in her seventies in her last performance. Now that’s passion.
